Editorial & Book Designer Rosie Gaynor

Rosie is an Editorial Designer & founder of Seattle Scriptorium,  where she design books, magazines and sales collateral for her clients.

Rosie met with Michael & Rachel for in-person mentoring at TypeCon Seattle in 2016. She joined the TypeEd Varsity Team for coaching and support. Rosie isn’t formally trained in design, but she has supplemented her education with classes and internships.

Résumé: before and after.

“As a freelance designer, I had been missing the growth that comes from working with other creatives. The Varsity Team gave me a group of colleagues who were a source of inspiration, knowledge, feedback, and encouragement.

“I learned about design, design process, and business practices. I got thoughtful creative direction from Michael and Rachel during calls. And I learned so much from watching other people’s projects grow over time!

“It was not a huge time commitment either, since the work you show, is the work you’re already doing anyway. I was wary of taking an online class, but the way the Varsity is set up promotes deep learning. Varsity Team definitely broadened my horizons and improved my work.

“Plus, it was fun! I’m looking forward to signing up for the fall session.”
