Setting The Table (Session 1)

  • TypeEd 145 Valley Street Pasadena, CA, 91105 United States (map)

The crack of the spine. The smell of fresh ink. The beauty of an open book. The joys and mastery of publication design becomes apparent as the page turns. Good book design subconsciously guides readers, but great book design engages them.

These sessions will reveal best publication design practices from beginning to end through a series of exercises with instructional book design as the focus. Shannon Losorelli-Doronio will lead us through each step of designing a simple yet professional cookbook. This workshop is perfect for those interested in publication and editorial design, multi-page documents, such as catalogs, brochures and manuals.

Shannon Losorelli-Doronio is a partner at Parallel-Play, a multi-disciplinary design studio in northern Los Angeles. Her specialty is book and report design for 826LA and 826National, LA Louver, Echo Park Time Travel Mart, and Chronicle Books. Read more about Shannon.
