Sara was an in-house graphic designer for nearly nine years. During that time, she had limited exposure to different types of fonts and how to use them because she was working with one brand in a fast-paced environment.  Given strict brand guidelines, she had minimal creative freedom and lacked opportunity for exploration.

Sara is a self-described “seasoned graphic designer with a zest for ideas, collaboration, color, typography, and a touch of serendipitous flavor which evolves in the design process,” working as a freelance designer in Orange County, California. When she first started working with us, she was working in-house.

“TypeEd has been highly influential in my transition to freelance” says Sara. “ Through the Varsity Team and TypeEd workshops, I learned so much about the art of typography and refreshed my memory on skills I hadn't used for several years in a supportive and positive environment.”

Because of her involvement with the TypeEd community, Sara says she’s “definitely giving much more thought to typography as a result, and grateful that my path lead me to TypeEd. I had been looking for mentors like Michael and Rachel for a long time and thankful for all the hard work they put into keeping the craft of typography and design strong.”
