Boot Camp: Core Training

Boot Camp is a results-driven workout session that is tailored to transform the way you work with type. Every drill is designed to be supportive and challenging, while exercising those core design muscles. Our Boot Camp is key to speeding up computer skills and design intuition, saving time in the design process.

This workout helps build better typographic endurance. In this session, all recruits will be challenged with repetitive design drills that helps designers build typography systems the right way. Our Core Training clinic is geared for teaching the basics of grid formulation and typesetting strategy.

Michael Stinson

Lead Instructor  Michael Stinson is a partner at Ramp Creative. With 20 years in the field of design, his identity and annual report work has been recognized by CommArts, Mohawk Paper, TDC, Graphis, etc. Conversely, he’s served on the juries for the Ad Club, Graphis, the One Show Design and the Young Ones.

About This Clinic

Boot Camp: Core Training is an intermediate-level speed clinic for design practitioners who want to take the guesswork out of page production. You'll learn:

  • How to prepare a proper page grid
  • How to build text boxes for maximum efficiency
  • How to quickly establish a typographic hierarchy system

Prerequisites

Participants must have taken at least Type 2. Intermediate Adobe InDesign experience is necessary to perform clinic material. Ages 21+.

Preparation

Participants must bring their own fully-charged laptop with Adobe Creative Suite installed. A free trial of the Creative Suite can be found on Adobe's Web Site. Workshop instruction will be demonstrated on Adobe Creative Suite CC software on a Mac. See our Attend page for more details.

Cancellations & Rescheduling

If you can’t make it, email us at least 24 hours in advance to move your registration to another class date of your choice. Full refunds will be honored only if a cancellation is requested seven (7) days or more prior to the original scheduled event.
